Dear CMA Families,
The first week of school is in the books...and what a GREAT week it has been! We are pleased to have seen SO many families at our first Back to School Night and are excited to meet more families in the upper school. We look forward to continuing to build deeper, stronger relationships with our families as we partner to support ALL of our students. Seeing students back on campus has brought loads of smiles, positive energy, and lots of fun! We heard “ This is the best first day of school ever!” from lots of our students and WE couldn't agree more. Thank you all for making this such a smooth beginning to our school year. Below are some quick reminders about old and new policies at ChangeMakers.

Ways To Get Involved
SSC- School Site Council
First Meeting - Oct. 2nd
Meets throughout the year and is comprised of teachers, other school personnel, the principal and parents/guardians, whose major function is the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school site plan for categorical programs. We will review our LCAP, which outlines our school goals, in order to ensure we are meeting our annual goals.
ELAC -District English Learners Advisory Council
First Meeting - Oct. 9th
Advises the school leader and SSC regarding the school’s program and services for identified English Language Learner students. ELAC responsibilities can be voted over for SSC to assume its responsibilities.
FCC- Family Connection Committee
This committee offers great ways to get to know other families in the CMA community. Our monthly planning meeting takes place each month to discuss the upcoming months’ activities and events. Discussions also focus on operations, event planning and classroom support. All CMA families are welcome to attend our planning meetings! If, at any time, you would like to take on a more active role please let the Leadership Team know.
Dear CMA Families,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are excited to embark on the new school year together. To ensure your student has a strong year, we want to emphasize the importance of consistent, on time, daily attendance. Our goal this year is to make sure that every student attends school consistently.
Daily attendance has a significant impact on a student's academic success starting in Kindergarten and continuing through high school.
Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and in life. Research has shown that students who miss as little as two days per month of school are likely to fall behind academically and feel disconnected from school. Therefore, we are committed to working collaboratively with parents/guardians to remove any attendance barriers and make strong attendance a reality for each student.
We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. We also know that when students miss too much school - regardless of reason - it can cause them to fall behind academically. Your child is less likely to succeed if he/she is chronically absent - which means missing 18 or more days over the course of the school year.
Please reach out to Ms. Canady, Mrs. Weingarten, or anyone on the Leadership Team if your family needs support getting your child to school everyday on time!

Dear CMA Families,
We made it! We have successfully reached the last days of the 2018-2019 school year. What a year it has been. This year we fully grew to 5th grade and 8th grade - serving over 700 students. The growth of our school and the success of our students has only been possible because of your partnership. Your trust in us, your commitment to our community and your dedication to our children has made ChangeMakers Academy possible.
As I, Ms. Yilpet, wrap up my final week with our school community, I want to say again: Thank YOU. Thank you for your support. Thank you for your warmth. Taking you for taking the leap of faith to partner with us all the way back to founding year. Thank you for raising such brilliant, beautiful, and brave children. Our children are truly, truly the ChangeMakers our world needs!
I am so excited to keep in touch, came back to visit, and follow their journeys as they continue to learn and see all they are truly capable of, academically and social-emotionally. Please stay in touch. My contact information is provided on the physical copy of this SCRIPT you receive.
Please keep your children learning over the summer - 30 minutes a day! We don't want them to lose all their hard work from this school year due to not academically exercising their brains daily.
I will leave you with this quote:
"Speak to the children as if they are the wisest, kindest, most beautiful and magical humans on Earth, for what they believe is what they will become."
- Brooke Hampton
With love & gratitude,
Ms. Nenji Yilpet
