Dear Caliber Families,
We are full of gratitude to all of our families and students that have supported our students in accessing and participating in the virtual learning our amazing staff have created.
School Closure Timing
At this point in time we know that we will NOT be returning to school on April 6th. The experts are telling us we could be out of school between 6-8 weeks. As soon as we get more information we will communicate to you immediately.
Meal Team Operators will continue to distribute meals to our CMA community. There have been slight changes for meal distribution. Families will receive packaged meals to last for a couple of days. We are doing this in an effort to protect our staff and families. Pick up remains the same between 10:00 AM - 12 Noon.
With love and partnership,
Thank you for your support and your suggestions as we all watch the news regarding the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. We want to update you on the actions we are taking at CMA. Most importantly, school leaders are in continuous dialogue with the Caliber School Site Organization. We have had a productive dialogue and we will work collaboratively if COVID-19 comes into one of our school communities and advise on or direct, if necessary, the school's response.
The advice from the Public Health Department remains intact for the moment on our community. Common sense and active efforts to prevent the spread of the disease are still the best practices. Please refer to the links below for information from local or national agencies. At our school, we have been quickly implementing new cleaning expectations in order to keep our classrooms and schools especially clean. We have implemented daily classroom cleansing of all surfaces and "high touch" points of contact like doorknobs, sinks, and bathroom facilities. We are in the process of stocking our schools and classrooms with additional cleaning materials, including hand sanitizer and disposable wipes to ensure more regular cleaning during the school day of any commonly used surface. We are emphasizing hand washing at all times. We are also exploring educational options and making plans should a school be closed due to COVID-19, and risk to the general population remains low. Advisories from the National Centers for Disease Control (CDC) are being updated regularly and we are closely reading these daily messages.
In possible preparation for a shutdown, we have planned online learning opportunities and packets. Under certain circumstances, students would also be allowed to take chromebooks home for academic use.
We would only consider a shutdown under the the following circumstances:
A staff member, teacher, on-site vendor, or student/student's family member has tested positive for COVID-19.
Staff member, teacher, on-site vendor, or student/student's family member have had direct contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid-19 or is currently in quarantine for COVID-19.
If you have ANY questions regarding our response to the COVID-19 virus, please contact anyone on the CMA leadership team.
Mrs. Weingarten & Ms. Canady
