Principals' MessageDear CMA Families, 2019 has begun and CMA staff have exciting plans and expectations for your child's learning. We know that you also have many hopes and dreams for your child's success in school and beyond. To make sure those hopes and dreams are realized, we ask for your commitment to making sure your child/children attends school everyday during 2019. The evidence is overwhelmingly clear: CHILDREN WITH EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN SCHOOL. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. This is true for all grades - elementary, middle, and high school students. A recent review of student attendance by the California Department of Public Instruction shows that regular attendance from Kindergarten on is essential to successful learning. EVERY DAY COUNTS. Missing school has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress through school. Students with good attendance performed better in math and reading. Children with good attendance from Kindergarten to Second Grade were more than twice as likely than their peers who missed school to score proficient on state math and reading tests by the time they reach Eighth Grade. See the image attached below for more information! Thank you to families who have been consistently bringing your child to school! PLEASE LET THE OFFICE OR ADMINISTRATION KNOW IF YOUR FAMILY NEEDS HELP DEALING WITH A CHALLENGE IN ATTENDANCE. We will do our best to help you and your family ensure that your child's school attendance stays on track. As your child's most influential teacher, we are asking for your support in helping your child get to school on time before 8:00am everyday. Your child should be in school and engaged to make sure that they reach their full potential. Thank you for all you do to support your child's school success and well-being, as well as our school. We look forward to continue working with all of you for the remainder of the school year! Principals' Message Dear CMA Families, Happy New Year! We had a GREAT first full week back in 2019. The energy with which the staff and students had was so inspiring. We are so proud of the work we all do and will continue to do together, so our students can grow! The SCRIPT is being written everyday by and for our students at ChangeMakers Academy. We believe if our students are not pushed, if we don't use everyday to build our students up as people and as academic scholars, then they will not reach their full potential .However, it is exciting that we have the power and responsibility to work with our ChangeMakers everyday in order to support them in reaching their academic and socio-emotional goals. Our students will continue to be surrounded by adults with high expectations, who will push them to grow as people and students. We are so excited to start 2019 with such energy and JOY!
